MOT check vs GOV.UK
Both myMOTreport and the official GOV.UK MOT history service use MOT records from DVSA. This page explains what is the same, what myMOTreport adds, and what we are not.
What is the same
- MOT history comes from the DVSA MOT History API (GOV.UK source data).
- You can see pass and fail results, test dates, mileage readings, advisories, and defects where recorded.
- A basic lookup does not replace the need to check a vehicle in person or seek professional advice.
What myMOTreport adds
- A free standard report presented on our website, with optional account history.
- Optional advanced analysis: vehicle score, automated record checks, charts, and summaries derived from the MOT history.
- A downloadable analysis PDF for advanced reports.
- Side-by-side comparison of advanced reports you have unlocked.
- Optional DVLA vehicle specifications where available.
What we are not
- We are not GOV.UK, DVSA, or DVLA, and we are not an official government website.
- We do not inspect vehicles or tell you whether to buy or sell a vehicle.
- Advanced scores and charts are automated summaries of MOT history, not a substitute for a physical inspection.
When to use which
Use GOV.UK if you only want the official government MOT history page. Use myMOTreport if you want that history on our site, with the option to unlock deeper automated analysis, charts, PDF export, and saved searches.
